Our Core Values
Heart for Seekers
We recognize that people have differences in preference, opinion, and belief. We will do what is necessary to reach individuals with the gospel message. We will plan, organize, and implement church activities appropriately.
“To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.”
1 Corinthians 9:22-23
Acts Missional Model
We recognize the biblical mandate to witness to those in Rogers County, the state of Oklahoma, North America, and the world.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
Relational Groups
We recognize the need for consistent and significant time spent with small groups of believers.
”Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.”
Acts 5:42
Biblical Application
We recognize the authority of the Bible and that it is God’s instructions for us. The Bible should be studied, reflected on, memorized, and applied to daily activities.
”Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
James 1:22
Ongoing Development
We recognize the need of every believer in Jesus Christ to grow spiritually and strive to assist others in growing spiritually.
”Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:13
Real Leadership
We recognize high expectations of our leadership team should coincide with respect, honor, and constant support.
”Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.” Hebrews 13:7
Corporate Worship
We recognize the importance of weekly corporate worship and giving everyone an opportunity to participate by providing multiple worship services. We strongly recommend worship one/serve one.
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
Hebrews 13:15-16
Heart for Purpose
We recognize that everything Harbor Church does should have purpose.
The Great Commandment…
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:36-40
and The Great Commission…
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Understanding New Generations
We recognize that people are changing. It is our responsibility to adapt practices and procedures to better interact with coming generations. We will prioritize ministries to children and students.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12
Role of the Family
We recognize the need for biblical marriages to stimulate healthy, motivated families dedicated to God. We strive to love and encourage everyone in their family situation.
”Keep on loving each other as brothers. Marriage should be honored by all.”
Hebrews 13:1,4
Commitment to Prayer
We recognize the power of God through prayer and will offer times for corporate prayer.
”Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
Humble Servants
We recognize the need for every member of Harbor Church to be a minister. We will exercise our gift(s) and skills to love God, edify the church, and serve one another.
”So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.”
